In addition to my work for the stage, I have written a number of academic and journalistic articles, as well as several personal essays. My writing has appeared in the Harvard Crimson, for which I served as the 2021 Theater Executive, and the Harvard Political Review, for which I served as the 2020 Assistant U.S. Politics Editor. In September 2020, I presented one of my Political Review pieces — “How Blue Is Bluegrass?” — at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s New Research in Bluegrass Conference, where I was the only undergraduate presenter. I’ve also been lucky to study literary nonfiction with such writers as Susan Faludi, Michael Pollan, and Hanif Abdurraqib.
