Cruising Altitude

Cruising Altitude is a whodunit musical comedy set 30,000 feet in the air. When budding biologist Peter can’t find his suitcase in an overhead compartment, he enlists his girlfriend Jenny to help him launch a (supposedly) high-stakes investigation of their eclectic fellow passengers. Before long, the emotional baggage far outweighs the physical. With book by Sam O’Connell, music and orchestrations by Ian Chan, and lyrics by me, Cruising Altitude tackles living in the moment, losing yourself in relationships, and pursuing passions at all costs — without resisting the urge to poke fun at tiny airplane bathrooms and the TSA.

Cruising Altitude premiered at the Agassiz Theater on May 2, 2019. The original production was directed by Aviva Ramirez; music directed by Kalos Chu, Ian Chan, and me; choreographed by Angel Hoyang; stage managed by Fari Mbaye, assisted by Garrett Rolph; produced by Sam Thau and Esther Caroline; and advised by Dana Knox, Tom Morgan, Liz Dean, and Frederick Frank.

Nico Barlos (Peter) and Odessa Deng (Jenny) perform the title song from Cruising Altitude.
